June 10: New gold spa treatments for rejuvenating skin are coming to Akasha Holistic Wellbeing Centre at London’s Hotel Café Royal. Following the practices of legendary beauty Cleopatra, artisan spa brand La Sultane de Saba uses 23 carat gold to leave skin glowing and prevent aging.
Guests can get a 75 minute treatment for £140 or 90 minutes for £160 which contains gold, mother of pearl and caviar extract. The four-step treatment is seen as a ritual similar to those used by Egyptians to heal themselves.
The first part of the ritual is to set the ambience. To do this, the spa provides guests with rose petals and aromatic steam using mists of orange and rose fragrances used to relax the body. In the background, light Moroccan music plays as candles flicker around the room.
A full body and face exfoliation follow. The soaps used are filled with gold minerals and a traditional kessa glove, often used for skincare, is used during the body exfoliation to provide immediate visible results. The face exfoliation process includes 23 carat gold jelly and a 23 carat gold anti-ageing scrub. This portion of the ritual is completed with a hair treatment of pure lava clay and gold.
Entering the third stage of the ritual, one is given the option of a back massage or a mini gold facial. The back massage uses pure shea butter, gold minerals, and the guests’ choice of oil. Guests deciding to get the mini gold facial will first experience a honey and gold balm massage. Following will be a 23 carat gold mask and ending the facial a gold elixir serum, enriched with Caviar and argon oil will be applied to the guests’ face and neck. The facial will plump and smooth the guests’ skin along with providing an anti-aging treatment.
Finishing the ritual, guests will be given a ceremonial mist and brought to lounge in the relaxation room with sweet tea. Undoubtedly, guests will leave feeling relaxed and rejuvenated.
