Bottega Veneta presents Women’s Fall-Winter 2013-14 collection

Bottega Veneta presets its Women’s Fall-Winter 2013-14 collection

Bottega Veneta Women's Fall-Winter 2013-14 collectionFebruary 24, 2013: For Fall-Winter 2013/2014, Bottega Veneta presents a collection that has quite a Parisian and English touch and is precisely polished. The silhouette emphasizes volume, but still accentuating the shape of the body. Defined by intricate construction and deliberate lines, the overall look is transformative, and is reminiscent of the fashionable world of another era.

The palette is quite decisive with monochromes defining the collection. Colours include black, slate, smoke and pearl white, offset by vibrant red, yellow and curry.

The collection evolves around wool and the various ways it can be considered. This approach starts with a range of fabrics, most importantly light to heavy flannels. In some cases these are bonded to appear still, while others are washed repeatedly to create a plush surface, and sometimes they are boiled to felt. Felting is also the base for a new way of creating the idea of print and embellishment. These rather dense materials are contrasted with leather, silk, satin, or lacquered straw to achieve a complete look. The appearance of vertical lines throughout the collection is achieved through cutting.

Bags are smaller, with top handles, and many times framed. Woolens are mixed with nappa leather; exotics are combined with raffia for unusual surface and effect. The shoe, inspired by a men’s loafer or lace up, covers the foot high and shows a thinner heel than last season’s. Jewellery consists of elaborated bronze chains and porcelain bisque medallions.
