June 1, 2017: Luxury fashion brand Gucci hosted its Cruise 2018 show recently in the Palatine Gallery of the Pitti Palace in Florence. Filled with Renaissance art, the collection took place throughout seven rooms in the palace. Guests were given an exclusive tour through the Vasari Corridor, usually closed to visitors, where paintings by Michelangelo and Leonardo da Vinci decorated the walls.
Enchanting the audience with his ancient classical theme, fashion designer Alessandro Michele began his collection with a series of slogan tees, which led to beaded gowns and suits. Fringe, florals, pearls and other elegant embellishments also shined on the runway. Not just limited to clothing and accessories, even the models had their bodies adorned with pearls and their fingertips dipped in black ink.
Several musicians walked the runway, such as Arun Roberts, Jenny Beth and James Righton to name a few. Some of the brand’s favorite faces, Dakota Johnson, Jared Leto, Beth Ditto and Kristen Dunst, enjoyed the lavish show from the front row.
