August 7, 2020: For its new apple print collection commemorating the Chinese Valentine’s Day, Gucci reinterprets its signature GG monogram with two intermeshed G letters in red. Using the GG supreme patterned canvas as the base for the apple print design, the collection comprises a range of accessories.
The playful collection has a pop-art appeal to it. The bags boast the classic beige and ebony GG supreme pattern base with an addition of red leather trim, lending it a flamboyant accent. A vast collection of bags from backpacks, shoulder bags in the style of a neo-vintage camera case, a belt bag, a north/south top-handle tote and a rounded shoulder bag boast the new GG apple motif. Additionally, the collection features bags with padlocks – a small tote, a small chain-shoulder bag and a small top-handle with bamboo handle.
Smaller accessories like card cases, wallets, keychain holders, iPhone covers and mini bags are available in white leather canvas with the apple GG pattern. One of the quirkiest accessories from the assortment is a coin case in the shape of a single apple made from the GG apple print monogram.
Apart from bags in beige and ebony canvas with apple print, there is also a silk twill carre and ribbon and a larger modal silk shawl. The baseball cap and bucket hat come in GG supreme base with GG apple motif. The shoes are screen-printed and have a dense, compact weave of a cotton fabric base. The slide and Ace sneaker have the GG supreme canvas while the Gucci 1977 Tennis shoe are made of pink or white cotton fabric.
The Chinese Valentine’s Day, called the Qixi Festival, falls on August 25, and this chic and lively Gucci apple print collection is in tandem with the overall theme of the celebrations.
