Myriads of colors and dainty designs converge in Jade’s latest Bridal Couture 2023 collection, titled “Rangrez”, creating vibrant and enchanting ensembles. ‘Rangrez’, in Sufism, means “someone who colors your soul in their own color, erasing all your flaws, misgivings and preconceived notions”. Monica Shah took inspiration from this beautiful philosophy where a poignant expression of love in a singular color is unique in form and yet universal in appeal.
Staying true to the brand’s philosophy, the collection reinforces Ms. Shah’s vision of craft and cultural sustainability. Showcasing the founder’s love for hand craftsmanship and Indian heritage, the brand revived the craft of hand-dyeing, as the entire collection ranges from fuchsia pink, aegean blue, turmeric yellow, vermillion red, ivory white and opulent gold and silver, all hand-dyed by the Rangrez community of Kolkata, who are slowly losing this craft to machine-dyeing.
Graceful and delicate, the brand’s signature Ek Taar technique is exquisitely showcased across each garment. Contrasting colors are melded beautifully to present a breathtaking vision.
The collection also saw a new line of menswear consisting of statement-making bandhgalas, eclectic three-pieces and classic tuxedos for the modern man.
Talking about the collection, Ms. Shah, said, “Rangrez is a tribute to how love takes on different hues for different people and how colors express individual style statements as well as emotions.”
