Ronald Van Der Kemp and Christie’s to auction couture face masks for charity

With 29 couture face masks up for bidding, the revenue from this charity auction will go to The Refugee Company, an Amsterdam-based social organization

September 16, 2020: Dutch fashion designer Ronald Van Der Kemp (RVDK) and global auction house Christie’s will be staging an online charity auction titled ‘Couture For Change.’ The designer has donated 29 unique and exceptionally crafted couture face masks which will be sold to benefit The Refugee Company, a public benefit organization based in Amsterdam.

It was on April 28, 2020 when RVDK made an astonishing statement of hope and peace to the world. At five to midnight, 29 models in stellar couture gowns and matching, imaginative couture face masks, appeared on the balconies of their rooms at Hotel L’Europe in Amsterdam. They waved white flags as a symbol of peace and sustainability, creating an extraordinary moment during these troubled times.

These 29 couture face masks, crafted in the atelier of RVDK, are being offered without reserve along with an original framed sketch by the designer. The beneficiary foundation of the auction revenue, The Refugee Company, has recently opened the first local face mask factory in the Netherlands, run by refugees.
