September 12, 2020: Dresden-based watchmaker, A. Lange & Söhne, unveiled a limited edition collection titled ‘Homage to F.A. Lange” at the Watches & Wonders event in Shanghai 2020. The collection features three limited edition watches belonging to the 1815 watch family, dedicated to the birth year of Ferdinand Adolph Lange, the pioneer of Saxonian precision watchmaking.
Inspired by the tradition and classic side of Ferdinand A.Lange, the three styles from the 1815 watch family are reminiscent of the pocket watches of yesteryear. The cases are made of honey gold, a very rare gold alloy that is exclusive to Lange watches. Featuring a special dial, all three watches boast special movement decorations, which include grained plates made of German silver and black-rhodiumed engravings on the balance cock. The collection’s limited edition watches are named 1815 Thin Honeygold, 1815 Rattrapante Honeygold and Tourbograph Perpetual Honeygold.
The 1815 Thin Honeygold edition is an elegant two-hand watch with a diameter of 38 mm and a height of 6.5 mm.The hand-made enamel dial with Arabic numerals and a railway-track minute scale, is redolent of classic pocketwatches. There are 175 watches in this edition.
The 1815 Rattrapante Honeygold brings together two complex mechanisms- chronograph and ratrrapante. It has a power reserve of 58 hours and is equipped with a Lange manufacture calibre L101.2. The exquisite honey gold case has been combined for the first time with a black dial in solid silver. This edition is limited to 100 pieces.
The Tourbograph Perpetual Honeygold is the most complex timepiece in the anniversary collection. The Lange manufacture calibre L133.1 comes with the tourbillon and fusée-and chain transmission, that bolsters the watch’s accuracy. The diameter is 43 mm and the dial is 18-carat honeygold, black-rhodiumed with relief-engraved numerals and scales. This stellar edition has only 50 pieces.
