They define Indianess and royalty. They are known to break the rules and instead create ones that set the bar for the industry. Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla, the designer duo, recently complete 25 years in the business in 2011. And what a glorious 25 years it has been for them!
The special collection which was created for the occasion had the stamp of the designer duo in every sense. “Our collection was 21st century India in all her myriad glory,” said the designer duo, while talking about the inspiration behind the collection. “It was timeless elegance meets here and now, in your face, rock chick glamour. We had incorporated all the tehzeeb of the past tinged with a tongue-in-cheek nonchalance. It was classical meets contemporary. The way today’s diva deserves to dress.”
Showcased in a fashion show in Dubai, Abu Sandeep’s loyal customer, the lissome Mrs. Mehreen Akba, walked the ramp dressed in a 3D mirror Swarovski coat with the gold beaded tasseled skirt. The ranges showcased on the ramp were Swarovski, Sonar, Shabb in black (gothic in its look) Classic Chikan, Mirror, Rabaadi, Stone Range, Gun Metal, Kaliedoscope, Abaan in beiges and white.
The collection ranges of Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla were a celebration of their own history melded with a vision for tomorrow. It was where the lines between vintage and avant-garde, and the divisions between East and West blurred to create a new blueprint for couture.
