Aditya Birla Group boosts its hospitality portfolio with four brand acquisitions

Keen to take on the burgeoning demands of the food industry, ABNAH aims to bring a fine dining experience to Indian cities.

One of India’s leading conglomerate’s, Aditya Birla Group, has made a significant and strategic addition to its hospitality arm, Aditya Birla New Age Hospitality (ABNAH), by purchasing a 100% stake in KA Hospitality Private Limited (KAH). The deal brings in four distinguished restaurant brands, Hakkasan, Yauatcha, Nara Thai, and CinCin, to the group.

Hakkasan in Mumbai

The four brands are positioned across the customer value pyramid, spanning the mid-market to premium segments. A cutting-edge brand, Nara Thai encapsulates the soul of real Thai food, while CinCin offers the elegant Italian “La Dolce Vita” vibes. Featuring contemporary Cantonese cuisine, Hakkasan is a Michelin-starred establishment and Yauatcha is an award-winning dim sum teahouse from London.

Aryaman Vikram Birla, Founder, ABNAH, said, “Dynamism is the lifeblood of the food industry, and our plan is to broaden the reach of these brands and take these distinctive dining experiences to other cities across India.”

This acquisition comes after ABNAH’s collaboration with chef and restauranter Rahul Akerkar in February 2023.

Yauatcha in Mumbai

In 2011, the late Mr. Kishor Bajaj founded KA Hospitality and saw the opportunity to bring Michelin-starred cuisine into India, and launched Hakkasan and Yauatcha to Mumbai. Under the direction of Karyna Bajaj, who took over as Executive Director in 2016, they expanded on this concept by adding Nara Thai and developing their own brand, CinCin.

About the deal, Ms. Bajaj, said, “Over the span of twelve years, we have nurtured our family business with unwavering commitment. We have built KA Hospitality from its very foundation, driven by passion into a formidable establishment renowned for crafting exceptional dining experiences. It is with great pride that we now pass the baton to ABNAH, to uphold and elevate the legacy of KA Hospitality as its future custodians. I have no doubt that they will excel in the next phase of the business’ growth.”
