Since 2018, French luxury house Louis Vuitton continued to produce fashion lines that introduce modern approaches and the brand’s unmistakable sense of creativity with the then creative designer Virgil Abloh. Mr. Abloh brought in a streetwear aesthetic with a mix of hip hop to this aristocratic luxury brand. Mr. Abloh’s death in 2021 shook the entire fashion industry and the brand has released many collections since paying tribute to the designer’s creative vision and spirit.

Following over a year after Mr. Abloh’s death, Louis Vuitton names American musician and designer Pharell Williams as the new men’s creative director. Not only is Mr. Pharrell a household name in the fashion world and excels as a fashion designer and entrepreneur, he has a long history with the brand. Having collaborated with various leading luxury brands like Moncler, Celine and Chanel, he had the opportunity to collaborate with Marc Jacobs in the past for a series of sunglasses for Louis Vuitton.
A fashion icon who has successfully merged fashion, style, music and attitude through his vision, Mr. Pharrell – as acknowledged by Mr. Abloh himself – has been a major motivator for the African American population.
Pietro Beccari, Louis Vuitton’s chairman and CEO said, “I am glad to welcome Pharell back home, after our collaboration in 2004 and 2008 for Louis Vuitton, as our new Men’s Creative Director. His creative vision beyond fashion will undoubtedly lead Louis Vuitton towards a new and very exciting chapter.”
Louis Vuitton is turning over a new chapter with this unconventional choice for its new creative head at menswear collection and quite an interesting one. Mr. Pharrell’s debut collection will be in June at the Men’s Spring Summer 2024 fashion week.
