Indian designer Anjul Bhandari, who has proven her mettle with the Indian craft of chikankari, has launched her latest collection Zabahaar, which promises the freshness of spring for the modern millennial.
“Zabahaar is an Arabic term which means the radiance of spring and which inspired me to create a collection which perfectly resonates with the buoyancy and vibrancy of colours that this season has to offer. The apparels bring out the old-world charm that merges seamlessly with a unique tone of millennialism capturing traditions and heritage craftsmanship and there is a piece for everyone from brides to bridesmaids and the family,” says Ms Bhandari.
The collection includes harem salwars, shorter kurtas, Pakistani suits and avant-garde silhouettes, where old-world charm seamlessly meets contemporary elegance. From casual cord sets to regal bridal lehengas adorned with traditional veils, Zabahaar is everyday opulence. The line also introduces a range of gilets and co-ord sets with asymmetrical jackets in softer pastel tones.
Two-toned coloured beads, sequins and baby mirrors blend seamlessly with the intricacies of Chikankari, giving the collection an ethereal shine.
The designs showcase elegant, lightweight jaals that perfectly balance contemporary styles with couture designs.
Mellow hues of rose, pistachios and aquas transpire modern versatility where the apparel can move beyond being wedding wear.
Cut backs and sweeping necklines push the case for a redefined minimalism. The architectural cuts lend a modern look to the ancient technique of chikankari.
Zabahaar, thus, offers something for everyone to love and cherish through a modernist, serendipitous approach.
