Arnold & Son welcomes the Year of the Wooden Snake with a masterpiece that marries horological brilliance and artistic finesse. The Perpetual Moon 41.5 “Year of the Snake” is a striking tribute to the 2025 Chinese zodiac, embodying the serpent’s transformative symbolism and introspective energy.
True to the brand’s tradition of blending technical prowess with intricate artistry, the dial features a breathtaking depiction of the snake, a nod to the zodiac’s themes of negotiation, mystery, and self-improvement.
Limited to just eight pieces, this red gold timepiece showcases Arnold & Son’s renowned manufacture caliber, a hallmark large astronomical moon, and an aventurine glass dial base that sparkles like the night sky. The design philosophy is in line with Arnold & Son’s past editions celebrating the Chinese New Year.
The snake is meticulously hand-engraved from 18-karat rose gold and set against a shimmering blue aventurine glass dial. Its intricate scales, forked tongue, and broad, flat head are crafted with striking realism. Complementing this is a large mother-of-pearl moon, also rendered with lifelike detail, featuring shadowed textures enhanced by Super-LumiNova. This luminous moon illuminates an aventurine glass sky, framed by the constellations of Ursa Major and Cassiopeia, both adorned with luminescent paint.
These star patterns pay homage to John Arnold, the legendary marine chronometer-maker, whose work relied on celestial navigation. Serving as eternal guides, these constellations surround the Pole Star, a steadfast marker of true north.
At Arnold & Son, precision meets artistry with the Perpetual Moon 41.5 Red Gold “Year of the Snake.” On the case back, a secondary moon phase display ensures quick and precise adjustments to this intricate complication. The manually wound A&S1512 caliber, the heart of this timepiece, tracks the lunar cycle’s 29 days, 12 hours, 44 minutes, and 2.8 seconds with unparalleled accuracy.
Designed, produced, decorated, and finished in-house, this movement boasts two barrels, a 3 Hz oscillation frequency, and an impressive 90-hour power reserve. It’s a masterpiece of mechanical ingenuity, perfectly complementing the “Year of the Snake” design.
