Art Karat launches Maharaja Collection

December 6, 2010: Shriji Arvind Singh Mewar. Maharana of Udaipur, launched the Maharaja Collection of Art Karat at a royal evening organized at the Hyatt Hotel, New Delhi.

The collection comprises of designs which have been inspired by jewels of royal families. The famed Patiala neckpiece of Maharaja Bhupinder Singh Patiala, created by Cartier, was also taken as an inspiration.

Models presenting the jewellery on the ramp were first arriving in some classic, vintage models of Rolls Royce, Jaguar, Chevrolet and other car manufacturers.

The glittering jewellery certainly caught everyone’s attention. Designer Saket Modi said that the idea behind taking inspiration from royal jewellery was to present Indian women with these royal designs, who have always desired them, but weren’t able to get these kind of royal looks.

The royal evening ended with an exhibition where the extensive Maharaja collection, including more than 700 designs, was spread out for the guests. The exhibition is on for viewing at Hyatt Hotel, New Delhi, till December 15, 2010.
