AstaGuru explores the evolution of Indian art with two auctions

‘Stroke And Structure’ and ‘Visionaries’ will soon be presented for avid art collectors.

Auction house AstaGuru continues to make waves. Following the remarkable success of its milestone 100th auction and the highly acclaimed ‘The Exceptionals’ Jewellery, Silver, and Timepieces auction, AstaGuru is gearing up for two more significant events.

The first, titled ‘Stroke & Structure,’ is a modern Indian art auction scheduled for June 20-21, 2024. This event will feature a diverse collection of works by significant modernist figures, offering a glimpse into their artistic oeuvre.

Notable highlights in this auction include Lot 4, featuring an artwork by Amrita Sher-Gil (valued at INR 10,00,000 – 15,00,000), an impressive piece by MF Hussain (estimated at INR 2,50,00,000 – 3,50,00,000), a sculptural rendition inspired by Krishen Khanna’s renowned Bandwallah series (priced at INR 20,00,000 – 30,00,000), Dancers by artist Sakti Burman (valued at INR 20,00,000 – 30,00,000), See My Wounds by artist Jogen Chowdhury (estimated at INR 65,00,000 – 80,00,000), a masterpiece by artist Manu Parekh (Lot 101, priced at INR 40,00,000 – 60,00,000), and more.

Following shortly after is the contemporary art auction titled ‘Visionaries,’ set for June 23-24, 2024. Here, bidders can expect to encounter works by some of the leading contemporary artists, showcasing their innovative and thought-provoking creations.

In the spotlight at this contemporary Indian art auction are several remarkable pieces that promise to enthrall collectors and art enthusiasts alike. Some highlights include Bharti Kher’s untitled work, Lot 116, created in 2012 using her signature medium of bindis on painted board (valued at INR 80,00,000 – 1,20,00,000). Additionally, Anish Kapoor’s Mountain (estimated at INR 60,00,000 – 80,00,000) and T V Santhosh’s For A Life Lost Between Bullets And Bombs (Diptych) (priced at INR 25,00,000 – 30,00,000) are expected to garner significant attention.
