Cannes International film festival, one of the most prestigious events in the world, saw the debut of the sportiest and the most singular “DB12”, a refined and upgraded version of Aston Martin’s sports car line. Shortly after it was unveiled, the brand presented the first unit of Aston Martin DB12 as sponsorship in a star-studded charity auction at the amfAR Gala Cannes. The model was the highlight of the event, raising €1.5 million, which will support the work of the foundation for AIDS research.
Lawrence Stroll, Executive Chairman of Aston Martin, said, “Aston Martin is thrilled to have supported the amfAR Gala Cannes. In addition to showcasing the generosity of amfAR attendees, the incredible amount raised through this charity auction highlights the excitement for the new DB12 and the unique ultra-luxury and high-performance aspects of this model that elevate it well beyond the current GT category.”
Given that its finely tuned chassis is perfectly paired with a class-leading 680 PS/800 NM V8 Twin-Turbo powertrain, a new replacement of the old DB11’s V12, the brand dubbed the model as the ‘world’s first Super Tourer’ at its unveiling. Although the new DB12 looks very similar to its predecessor, the brand pushed its designers to the pin of their collar to create this one-o- a-kind sports car.
With a new suspension system featuring the latest adaptive dampers, control and connection are further amplified by an exceptionally precise and direct Electronic Power Assisted Steering (EPAS) system and an Electronic Rear Differential (E-Diff) that enhances agility and brings the DB12 alive on the most dynamic of roads.
Along with the multi-mode ESP, the DB12 has five predefined drive modes; GT, Sport and Sport + which gradually changes the dynamic behavior, giving the driver greater flexibility to test the boundaries of grip and traction with each stride, and improved stability on low grip terrain thanks to wet mode. With lightweight wheels that are 8 kg lighter than previous 20” versions, it cruises effortlessly and comfortably.
Exceptional features such as contemporary display screens, interactive analogue switches, and luxurious leather all coexist to create a comfortable and a driver centric cockpit. As you peek inside, the DB12 reveals a new bespoke infotainment system and a formidable suite of connected technology which entertains with a spectacular surround sound system by new audio partner, Bowers & Wilkins.
Framed by new Light Emitting Diode (LED) headlights with a distinctive new Daytime Running Lamp (DRL) signature and intricate surface detailing, the model’s wide track stance is supplemented by standard-fit 21-inch forged alloy wheels.
The distinctive Aston Martin wings badge, in its most recent iteration, is placed at the front. The DB12 is the first sports to receive the new wings, marking the beginning of an exciting new era. The new exterior is complemented by new, slimmer, frameless wing mirrors that enhance the car’s aerodynamic profile. Car aficionados will be able to take the wheel in the third quarter of this year.
