Avatar artist creates seven artworks for Alfa Romeo

October 22, 2010 – Alfa Romeo Official Art – an initiative by luxury car manufacturer Alfa Romeo and Cultwork – presented seven unique paintings by Federico B. Alliney, who had created sceneries for the movie Avatar. The art works place legendary Alfa Romeo cars into imaginary worlds ‘painted with light’, using the most advanced digital techniques applied in today’s movie productions.

Alliney explains, “I created a collection of paintings which would transmit the characters of the cars and highlight their aesthetic elements. I wanted to transport the onlooker inside my paintings. For this intent I use a pictorial technique which I have developed as movie scene designer, painting with light, superimposing layers of light and shadow which co-penetrate each other. The result of this treatment is then elaborated with pictorial techniques to make stand out the smallest details of the painting.”

The seven artworks are titled ‘Disco Idro’, ‘100’, ‘Dorian Red’, ‘Indomabile’, ‘La Bella e la bestia’, ‘Route 66’ and ‘Una serata a casa’. For each car, Alliney developed an imaginary world in which the cars’ aesthetics and soul are brought to life and distilled to their real essence. The different settings include Venice, a tropical jungle, an iconic gas station, a race track and a futuristic super hero ‘living room’. Each artwork is limited to only 30 fine art giclee print reproductions world-wide.
