Bangalore Watch Company (BWC) has launched its latest collection, Peninsula Professional, a series of luxury watches inspired by India’s vast and diverse natural landscapes. Designed as an all-purpose timepiece, the collection blends technical innovation with a deep appreciation for the country’s geographic history.
Unlike traditional luxury watches designed for singular activities like diving or hiking, BWC’s new collection redefines the category. India’s outdoors offer a unique diversity, from the towering Himalayan peaks to vast oceans and the lush Western Ghats. A single-purpose luxury watch simply can’t capture this richness. The Peninsula Professional collection has been redesigned from the ground up to redefine the recreational luxury outdoor watch category.
“The story of India is not merely centuries old, but hundreds of millions of years old. The Indian peninsula formed when a landmass separated from an ancient continent called Gondwana, about 180 million years ago,” Nirupesh Joshi, the Co-Founder of the brand said.
Inspired by nature’s most timeless form, the pebble stone, this timepiece blends durability with elegance. Crafted from surgical-grade steel, featuring a scratch-resistant superdome sapphire crystal, and powered by a Swiss automatic movement, it’s built to withstand the demands of watersports, hiking, and much more.
Mercy Amalraj, Co-Founder and Head of Ownership Experience of the brand, said, “Watch brands from around the world have always focused on nature and outdoors. Specific lines of watches have been created for recreational purposes like diving or hiking. Our Peninsula collection is an all-purpose outdoor watch – it can be used 200 meters underwater in the Indian Ocean, as well as 8000 meters above sea level on a Himalayan peak.”
The collection debuts with four distinct models, each honoring a unique Indian landscape. The Agumbe is inspired by the lush rainforests of India while Laccadive is a tribute to India’s 7,500-kilometer coastline. Zanskar celebrates the towering peaks of the Himalayas.
And the Mannar (Limited Edition) features a dial crafted from rare black mother-of-pearl, a tribute to the legendary pearl divers of the Gulf of Mannar. For over 2,000 years, freedivers braved deep waters between India and Sri Lanka to harvest wild pearls which is a symbol of power and prestige. The dial’s natural striations ensure that each timepiece is one of a kind, echoing the rich history and untamed beauty of this storied region.
Ms. Amalraj added, “As a young brand, we’ve always pushed the envelope when it comes to storytelling and technical capabilities. We built the first watch from India to be qualified for Space, we have built watches using materials recovered from fighter-planes and aircraft carriers. With this new watch, we are pushing the limits on a watch that can withstand our customers’ pursuits in the Great Indian Outdoors.”
Priced at INR 1,10,000 (approximately USD 1,300), the Peninsula Professional is now available for order.
