January 27, 2011: It was a case of technology meets art as Bird group hosted a party to launch the new collection by Porsche Design and their annual calendar shot by the celebrated photographer Rohit Chawla.
The impressive Porsche Design collection includes sunglasses with frames made of 18K gold; running shoes which take inspiration from the sports car suspension system; cigar cutter with blades that move horizontally and at an angle as well to cut cigars perfectly; futuristic looking mobile phones; and a manicure set with accessories made in Solingen.
Porsche Design opened their first store in India with Bird Group as the franchise partner in February 2009. Incredibly, it was also Porsche Design’s 100th store in the world!
The third limited edition calendar by Bird Group was shot on the theme of ‘World of Wearable Art’. The beautiful calendar features models in bizarre haute couture set against lush landscapes in New Zealand. Ankur Bhatia, Executive Director, Bird Group said, “We are going to launch our first five-star hotel in New Delhi in the next six months. It will be the first hotel to have an art gallery. So the idea behind starting this calendar was to amass some fantastic photographic works which we can showcase at the hotel gallery.” Well, we are certainly waiting to see this ‘artistic’ hotel!
