Since September 1, 1999, when the very first BMW X5 was wheeled off of the BMW Group plant in Spartanburg, South Carolina, nearly 3 million X5s have been assembled and churned out for markets across the globe. The BMW X5 carved out its own Sports Activity Vehicle category, and now, after 25 years, it’s set to celebrate its legacy with yet another blockbuster, a special, limited-edition BMW X5 Silver Anniversary model.
Based on the 2025 X5 xDrive40i, it elevates the expected on-road poise, performance, and premier seating with a considerable uptick in off-road aptitude.
What sets this pièce de résistance apart visually is its unique synthesis of styling details derived from both the Sport and M Sport designs. Extended Shadowline Trim darkens the trim on the window surrounds, roof rails, fender-mounted air breathers, and the standard illuminated kidney grille. Shadowline lights front and rear round out the understated exterior trim. Distinctive 20-inch M Star-spoke bi-color wheels are taken from the M Sport Package. The Silver Anniversary Edition goes in favor of the aluminum-accented pieces from Sport Design to ensure the delivery of its off-road fulfillments.
The black and aluminum palette is complemented beautifully by the standard BMW Individual Lime Rock Grey metallic paint. The tailgate bears a subtle Silver Anniversary Edition badge.
The interiors are another element to boast about. The sports seats are upholstered in the customer’s choice of black, cognac, coffee, or Silverstone Sensafin. Carbon fiber trim, ordinarily available only on the X5 M60i and X5 M Competition, adorns the center console and dashboard. The BMW Curved Display is powered by BMW Operating System 8.5 and enhanced by Live Cockpit Professional, which adds the full-color BMW Head-Up Display and BMW Maps navigation with augmented reality display. A Silver Anniversary Edition plaque marks the compartment door ahead of the gear selector.
The Silver Anniversary Edition X5 comes with the BMW’s xOffroad Package, staying true to its word of offering an adventure vehicle, which is essential in augmenting its off-road capability by adjusting the vehicle’s settings based on the terrain. Through the Driver Experience Control switch on the center console, the driver can choose between xSnow, xSand, xGravel, and xRocks. The system then configures the vehicle’s ride height, transmission shift strategy, throttle mapping, traction control, and other parameters correspondingly to render the optimal profile for the locale.
The package also comprises a 2-axle air suspension for increased ground clearance, a mechanical rear differential lock, and underbody protection plates. The central display also offers a special xOffroad View that informs the driver about ground clearance, roll tendency, and the inclination or downhill descent of the terrain. The xOffroad camera aids the driver in exacting off-road situations by providing views from all angles outside the vehicle at speeds below 22 mph. The automobile comes fully outfitted for any excursion, complete with a roof rack system, a BMW luggage compartment mat, and BMW all-weather floor mats.
Automotive enthusiasts can safely enjoy this formidable vehicle with a comfortable and rewarding on-road journey, regardless of the destination’s distance. Each Silver Anniversary Edition is fitted as standard with a Harman-Kardon Surround Sound System, heated front seats, armrests, steering wheel, remote engine start, a trailer hitch, and the Parking Assistance Package.
The 2025 BMW X5 Silver Anniversary Edition will undergo production in limited numbers of 1000 units in August 2024.
