Bonhams to auction diamonds, coloured gems & signed jewelry in London

Bonhams to auction magnificent diamonds, coloured gems and signed jewelries in London

Kashmir Sapphire ringMarch 31, 2016: Bonhams will present magnificent Harry Winston diamonds, colored gems as well as signed ornaments by Bulgari and Cartier at its upcoming Fine Jewelry sale in London.

Crowning the auction is a 15.52-carat single diamond ring, created by Harry Winston in 1973. The step-cut, D-color diamond boasts a VVS2 clarity grade and an estimated price tag of £700,000 (a little over $1 million) – £900,000. It is complemented by a pair of earrings, studded with 12 D-color diamonds that total 25.37 carats. Valued at £150,000 – 200,000, the earrings exemplify the maison’s famed approach of bending the design to the diamonds, and not vice versa.

Among the colored stones, a particular presence strikes a 13-carat Kashmir cabochon sapphire ring, fringed by old brilliant-cut diamonds. In the “Royal Blue” color of the most superior precious gems, it is estimated at £50,000 – 70,000.

Bulgari Serpenti bracelet

An octagonal mixed-cut red spinel also commands attention with its “magnificent rose” hue and 56.06 carats. Set in an old brilliant-cut diamond surmount and dangling on a row of natural pears, it is expected to fetch £100,000-150,000.

The sale also features several signed pieces, including a Bulgari diamond and ruby “Serpenti” bracelet-watch that coils like a serpent. Estimated at £70,000 – 90,000, it slithers back to the “La Dolce Vita” epoch, when the jeweler commenced its now-revered snake interpretations. A selection of natural pearls and a collection of Cartier’s acclaimed bird designs will also go under Bonham’s hammer.

Bonhams Fine Jewelry sale in London will take place on April 20, 2016. Information on all the 132 slots is available on the auction house’s website.
