February 4, 2012: British fashion brand Burberry launched an India-specific project where Indian celebrities were photographed wearing the iconic Burberry trench by local photographer Manou of Wearabout. Some personalities photographed include Indian actress Neha Dhupia; president of Fashion Design Council of India, Sunil Sethi; noted fashion model Indrani Dasgupta; and eminent Indian fashion designer Manish Malhotra.
The brand hosted an event to celebrate the project at its recently launched store in The Oberoi Hotel, Gurgaon. Over 50 Art of the Trench portraits were showcased as physical prints and on interactive digital screens where guests could explore and 'like' their favourite images.
Launched in 2009, Artofthetrench.com is a digital platform with social networking functionality celebrating the iconic Burberry trench coat and the people who wear it. The website invites site users to submit their own trench portraits from around the world and feature them on the site.
