October 2012: Burberry is all set to launch their latest and largest store at Regent Street, London, which will seamlessly integrate the brand’s physical and digital worlds, creating the ultimate Burberry experience. The store will celebrate the brand’s rich heritage through British craftsmanship and design, while innovative technology will deliver digital experiences that bring all facets of the brand to life
Spread over four floors, the store will become an innovative space featuring enhanced audio visual displays, tallest indoor retail screen in the world, laser phosphor display with over 190 panels, digital custom built video signage, with bespoke content relating to each area of the store and over 420 speakers, all fully flexible to control audio for live music.
Custom-designed Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology has been implemented throughout the store and within selected products, to enhance, manage and personalise the user journey. The RFID technology will enable visitors to receive information and view bespoke multimedia content specific to each product in the store.
The building housing the Burberry store was built in 1820 for the Prince Regent, after whom Regent Street was named. Over the course of almost 200 years, the space has housed a livery stable, art galleries, restaurant, cinema and radio broadcaster, tea room and gentleman’s outfitters. In restoring the space, Christopher Bailey worked in partnership with the best of British craftsmen in the UK including master carpenters, stonemasons, metal workers, welders, specialist gilders, decorative plasterers, cabinet makers, mill workers, wood carvers and joiners.
The store will house all the collections, ranging from Burberry Prorsum – Menswear and Womenswear and Burberry Childrenswear to Burberry Bespoke and Burberry Beauty. The store will also have Burberry Regent Street – Limited Edition Collection of men’s and women’s trench coats, shoes and iconic bags, available only in Burberry Regent Street to celebrate the launch of the store.
