December 14, 2015: Luxury brand Chanel has pushed open the doors of its fashion boutique for a preview presentation of pieces from its “Comète Rock” jewelry collection.
For the occasion, the Chanel boutique on the Faubourg Saint-Honoré is transforming its ground floor into a veritable ephemeral jewellery box. This space, with its satiny pink lacquered walls and floor carpeted in feather designs, accommodates a deconstructed bird cage: here and there parts of this cage set the scene within a world of infinite femininity. This original installation sits amidst cascades of white leather camellias, floating mannequins and champagne-hued ceruse-finished wood furniture.
To illustrate the avant-garde concepts of the jewellery, parts of the female body have been sculpted from plaster into very feminine gestures and attitudes: a long necklace is draped over a nude back, a mouth bites into a brooch… The pieces on show are taken from themes dear to the House: the feather, the quilting, the lion, the camellia and of course, the comet.
