Chanel opens its annual store in Courchevel

Chanel annual store in CourchevelDecember 12, 2013: For the fourth year running, Chanel is opening its elegant 200 sq m boutique in the heart of Courchevel for the winter. Adding another twist, Mr Karl Lagerfeld makes his mark on the ski resort and decorates 36 of the 72 Jardin Alpin cable cars with his sketches. The designer will move his tools to create symbols, iconic elements and silhouettes from collections by Chanel, portraits of Mademoiselle Chanel as well as self-portraits of the designer himself.

The boutique space is divided into four modules. In pale oak and gold metal followed by lacquered beige and then bronze and walnut, each room showcases ready-to-wear pieces and accessories from the 2013/14 Cruise collection. The fourth module is also home to shoes.

Outside the modules, clothes rails made from piles of multi-coloured wood and asymmetric shelves in combinations of fun colours accentuate the scene. The ‘showcase’ windows display the most beautiful pieces of Fine Jewellery from the Jardin de Camélias and Sous le Signe du Lion collections, the Première and J12 watches, and the new Mademoiselle Privé collection.

The surrounding walls have mirrors alternating with visible dry stone and flat areas in hues of white, brick and black. On the floor, a carpet with its grey cloud motif gives the visitor an impression of weightlessness. Taking a piece of nature, the back of the boutique opens up to a stunning and majestic view over the whole valley.

From December 14, 2013 until April 2014
