The Maison’s Co-president and artistic director Caroline Scheufele traverses the world to find the perfect stones and set them into stunning designs. The presentation began with a pair of vivid yellow Ceylon sapphires – both finely oval cut and weighing 151.19 and 127.70 carats respectively. Luminous as solar stars, they are destined to adorn a ring with a daring design and a matching cuff bracelet.
Mined from the generous soils of Sri Lanka, the 26.70 carat royal blue sapphire has a symmetry that reinforces the intensity and brilliance of coloured stones.

The coloured diamonds are as radiant as they are refined. Two sets of pink and green coloured diamonds are set aside for a dainty pair of earrings with a sleek contemporary design and a ‘You and Me’ ring. Far less common than white diamonds, coloured diamonds owe their hues to the presence of chemical elements or inclusions that modify their absorption of light. That is why, above and beyond the natural beauty of these exceptional gems, the finesse of their cut plays an important role in revealing the brilliance of their color. The three green diamonds (rarest of them all) acquired by Ms. Scheufele from mines in Brazil, as well as the three pink specimens from South Africa, are distinguished by their excellent combination of size and few impurities.

The stand-out pieces are the mesmerizing range of Mozambican tourmalines. Due to the presence of copper in its soils, the northern Mozambique region – where these stones were unearthed – has recently produced some of the finest tourmalines in colors ranging from blue to greenish blue. Brilliant in color, the blue tourmaline’s proportions and the finesse of their subtly oval cut create vivid blue hues due to multiple internal reflections.
Vibrant colors, sinuous lines and rich textures reign through the entire showcase of these stunning gems. And Ms. Scheufele aims to set them in equally astounding pieces.

In addition to these precious stones, Chopard also presented some jewellery fresh from its Haute Joaillerie workshops. Among them is a white diamond necklace flowing into a fantastic burst of sunshine in the shape of an over 100-carat fancy intense yellow diamond. There is also a ring featuring a 30.63-carat fancy intense yellow oval-cut diamond and entirely adorned with diamonds; and a necklace graced with sculpted rose gold, diamond and pink sapphire – inspired by the lace collars of 17th century courtiers’ costumes.
