February 25, 2020: Christian Louboutin celebrated the opening of L’Exhibition[niste] at the Palais de la Porte Dorée museum with a cocktail party and dinner. L’Exhibition[niste] is both the largest ever exhibit dedicated to Mr. Louboutin’s multi-referential work and the first to take place in his hometown of Paris.
The exhibition invites red sole enthusiasts to discover and experience the designer’s rich universe at an institution that has played an important role in inspiring his vocation. The designer began visiting Palais de la Porte Dorée during his adolescence. It was on one such visit that he noticed a sign forbidding visitors to wear high heeled shoes, subsequently providing inspiration for one of his most iconic designs: the Pigalle pump.
After sponsoring a project to enhance and emphasize the Palais de la Porte Dorée’s Art Deco heritage, Christian Louboutin was invited to create a special project in the space, ultimately resulting in L’Exhibition[niste], a five-month-long immersive exhibition. Guests were invited to preview the exhibit which featured a performance by L’Orchestre Lamoureux. Led by conductor Nicolas Krauze, the orchestra played a selection of movie scores speaking to Christian Louboutin’s love of cinema.
The event was followed by an intimate dinner. Guests enjoyed a second performance by L’Orchestre Lamoureux, joined by Belgian-Egyptian singer Tamino. The exhibition was visited by renowned names like Karlie Kloss, Janelle Monae, Edward Enninful, Fanny Ardant, Sabyasachi Mukherjee, Dita von Teese, Diane & Talita von Fürstenberg, Monica Bellucci, Alber Elbaz and so on.
The exhibition is open for viewing from February 26 to July 26, 2020.
