Imagine if your cherished shoes could gracefully waltz their way to you. This was the captivating vision realized by Christian Louboutin in his latest showcase. With a troupe of 19 exceptionally talented dancers, he unveiled his Spring-Summer 2024 collection through a mesmerizing performance.
The stage for this avant-garde revelation was the majestic Grand Amphitheatre of La Sorbonne in Paris, which added an air of intellectual grandeur to the fashion event. In collaboration with renowned Belgian dancer and choreographer, Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, the show was a heartfelt homage to the shared dedication of two creative minds, seamlessly blending diverse artistic elements to craft enchanting and magical experiences. A new dimension was added to the brilliance as German-Persian artist, Tobias Gremmler envisioned virtual forms emerging gracefully from dynamic robotic screens for the show.
Taking center stage among the evening’s performers is Viktoria Modesta, a multifaceted artist renowned for her roles as a performer, musician, and creative director. She wore distinctive ‘trademark spike prosthetic’ and custom footwear, embellished with gradient crystal strass meticulously crafted by artisans from the Christian Louboutin atelier, accompanied by screen visuals designed exclusively with her avatar.
Against a backdrop of serene and understated hues, each piece was accentuated with bursts of metallics and vibrant colors. The Miss Jane Ballerina, for instance, made a striking appearance in a combination of gold metallic and pink leather, while the Ginko pump featured a lively floral design, adding an elevated dimension to the overall ambiance. Adorned with feathers and strass, the Condora Queen Plume emerged as a stunning masterpiece.
Speaking on the collection, Mr. Louboutin said, “Dance is universal, in any culture, dance has its own special resonance. Sidi Larbi did this amazing mix of styles and culture, that is something I also cherish in my work. Incorporating technology into this show was also a fantastic exercise, Tobias worked on the iconic codes of the brand and made them evolve into virtual images in movement which were really fascinating.”
The collection included classics and new styles – from pumps and boots to ballerinas and platforms, there is a Loubi in a variety of colors in this collection.
