December 4, 2014: Cloudy Bay Vineyards, a part of the Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton group, has launched a wonderful Sauvignon Blanc 2014.
Created in New Zealand, the grapes saw an early summer, early winter weather in Marlborough. ‘‘The high bunch counts were not unexpected as they are a direct result of the superb flowering season the year previous,’’ explains Cloudy Bay Viticulturist Jim White. ‘‘Extensive thinning works were carried out in November to regulate crop levels and maximize their quality. We also ‘green harvested’ prior to verasion when bunch weights were calculated higher than our quality model.’’
In a year where the Marlborough region was up 30% in its yield, Cloudy Bay remained on target. When the season turned earlier than typical, mindful vineyard management proved integral. ‘‘If you made the efforts in the vineyard, 2014 was a beautiful season to make wine in,’’ says Senior Winemaker Tim Heath.
The 2014 Sauvignon Blanc has a bright nose with aromas of kaffir lime and grapefruit. A generous palate reveals ripe citrus, stone fruit and lemongrass flavours balanced by crunchy acidity. The hallmark of this vintage is its persistent finish rich with minerality.
Cloudy Bay Sauvignon Blanc 2014 is now available in India too.
