Sometimes life can feel like a lot… a lot of things to do, a lot of places to be, a lot of people to please, and on and on it goes. With all of that going on, it’s easy to get caught up in the practical side of life which means you don’t leave a lot of room for those small, indulgent touches that make you feel amazing, and that’s a shame. But the thing is that you don’t need to have a special occasion or event to go to to enjoy some luxury in life – in fact, you can add just a little luxury and turn your ordinary day into something very special indeed, so why not go ahead and do it? Here are some ways to get started.
Start With What You Already Have
The first thing to think about is the clothes and items you already have, because it might be that you can use them to elevate your everyday look easily. Perhaps you’ve got a cozy jumper – why not pair it with some tailored trousers or a blazer or perhaps a chic skirt and boost the whole look to another level? Or what about the jeans you wear all the time? Roll up the hems and wear some ankle boots (or flats if you prefer) and you’ve changed the whole look for the better.
Then there’s layering. We mentioned wearing a blazer above, and that’s a good place to start, but it doesn’t have to end there – add a scarf with a great print or a fun texture to make your outfit look much more luxurious.
Wear Accessories
Accessories are so important if you want to turn your everyday look into something more in a subtle but gorgeous way, so once you’ve worked out what clothes you want to wear (whether you use what you’ve got or you decide to buy some new things), you then need to think about what accessories you want to include in the look as well.
Of course, your mind might go straight to big, bold statement pieces, and they’re fantastic for special occasions, but they’re not always what you’re going to want if you want to have something more subtle, so that’s what you need to search for – subtle and stunning. Some ideas include fine chain necklaces, delicate rings, or perhaps a gorgeous moissanite tennis bracelet, for example. And don’t forget that accessories don’t just mean jewelry – you can add a bag, a scarf, some sunglasses, a hat, and more to finish your look in a luxurious and subtle way.
The Right Shoes
What can ruin a fantastic outfit in an instant? The answer is the wrong pair of shoes. However, a lot of people just can’t find luxurious shoes that are also comfortable, and they either decide to sacrifice style or comfort, and neither is a good choice in the end.
What you might not realize is that style can be comfortable, it’s just that it might take a little longer to find what you’re looking for. That’s why it’s wise to experiment a little with shoes and try all different types until you know what works. Then invest in a few pairs of the same shoe in different colors, and you’ll have something just right for any outfit.
Groom Yourself Well
Something else to bear in mind is that luxury isn’t just about what you wear – it’s also about how you look and appear to others, so make sure your grooming is good. Keep your nails neat, make sure your skin is nicely hydrated, and wash your hair on a regular (but not every day) basis, and you’ll be on the right track.
Plus, you’ll want to smell good too, so perhaps experiment with perfumes until you find your favorite scent – that can make all the difference in a subtle way.
Don’t Forget The Small Details
Sometimes the smallest luxuries can make the biggest impact and difference, and it can be a great way of changing your look for the better without having to break the bank or change your standard preferences very much at all. We’re talking about very small changes like switching a standard old hairband for a handmade, perhaps silk, scrunchie, for example. Or finding a lipstick that brightens up your whole face and stays where it’s meant to.
It really could be the smallest of changes that helps you find that subtle but luxurious look you want, and the great thing is that it’s easy to make these tiny changes one by one, stacking them up until you’ve created something you like.
