Etro Milano opens its first boutique in India at Palladium, Mumbai

Italian fashion house Etro opened the doors of its first India boutique with a glitzy evening hosted by Sanjay Kapoor, MD, Genesis Luxury and Deepika Gehani, Creative Director, Genesis Luxury at the Etro boutique, Palladium Mumbai. Also present on the occassion was Mr Alessandro Ferreri of Etro.

The mood for the evening was colourful and elegant. The 1,500 square feet store showcases Etro menswear and accessories collections as well as the women’s accessories and home collections. The interior décor and furnishings include dark walnut and gray lacquered paneling on the walls, large orange and fuchsia carpets on floors plate glass and steel bars for the display units, and wengé wood and plate glass for tables.

Kean Etro is the creative director for the menswear collection. The Autumn Winter 2010 collection “Be Upside Down to create an inside out” suggests that things are not as they appear. Once viewed from a different perspective, you will notice hidden details. Numerical and algebraic sequences sculpt coherent asymmetries through a new visual perspective, in which the forms construct architecture of volumes both in cut and in size, angles with diagonals, creating a sculptural effect.

Veronica Etro is the creative director for the womenswear collection. Set in a Wunderkammer perfumed with amber and absinthe, the Etro womenswear collection for Autumn/Winter 2010-2011 has an air of informal luxury, wrapped in the voluptuous caress of D’Annunzio-style robes and flowing kimonos.

In homage to a new tradition, Etro unveils a new interpretation of the Paisley motif, introducing sacred symbols such as dragons, to bring strength and fortune to those who wear them, and totems influenced by the suggestive iconography of the samurai.
