Etro presents Women’s Fall/Winter 2012-13 Collection

February 25, 2012: Putting the House's iconic Paisley motif on the pedestal, Etro's Fall/Winter collection fuses tradition with innovation and history with contemporary desire. A new sartorial approach and artisan influence gives unexpected weight to the clothes, underscoring a deep sense of luxury.

While the Paisley is the star of the collection, a series of unique treatments, from laser-cut patchworks to decorative trompe-l’oeil effects elevate the pattern above its traditional form. Silhouettes are tinged with sexiness. Corset details, like intricate lacings and paneling, or tulle intarsias inserted in printed cady stretch dresses, for example, are strategically placed to enhance the body’s curves.

Sophisticated patchworks bind rich velvets, jacquards and tweeds together. Black velvet devore on a full length gown recall a forgotten elegance, while stretch is a modern feature, that brings new weight to crepe cadys, double wools and even intricate embroideries. Micro-patterned jacquards, meanwhile, are inspired by men’s ties, and offer a graphic touch along with fishnet netting.

Handbags this season are reduced to essential sizes that are carried by hand. Gunmetal jewellery, such as oversized crystal necklaces, is worn over sweaters. Shoes are made as simple satin stiletto pumps with lace up ankles or pointy toe booties with tie-fabric or ostrich skin inserts.
