Etro Spring/Summer 2011 collection in stores now

For Spring Summer 2011, Veronica Etro presents a collection that has an urban slant on the exotic. The collection takes inspiration from graphic geometrics of multi-tribal influences and unique constructions of bordered silk foulards, with a clean edge. The optical statement is strong and modern, while the clothes demonstrate versatility and effortless ease.

Framed scarf prints take center stage and, like blown up florals, are delineated in pale nudes, earthy tones and khakis with touches of popping brights. Etro’s signature paisley print is very much there in a graphic black and white format, and disintegrates into zig-zags. Bold colour blocks – from flag green, turquoise, coral and black – create a palette on silk blouses, pants and skirts. Printed separates – like flared skirts, cropped pants, T-shirt shaped tops or blouses – are worn together, creating the illusion of one piece.

Shiny metal plaques configured on thin belts, handbag closures and jewellery is reminiscent of antique tribal amulets. The flat metal, also knitted into thin cuffs and collar necklaces, adds a techno-folk touch. Structured leather handbags have been printed with scarf patterns and can transform to an envelope shape, while others feature metal shell embroidery. The signature paisley jacquard for the bags evolves into ebony and ivory graphics. Raw wood platform sandals with suede and lizard straps, or multicolour glass beads embroideries, complete the look.
