Faberge launches special watch & locket for the Year of the Pig

Faberge launches special watch & locket for the Year of the Pig

Faberge Lady Levity watch with PigJanuary 30, 2019: Giving their touch to the Chinese zodiac sign of Pig, watch and jewelry maker Faberge has created two unique pieces – the Fabergé Lady Levity with Pig watch and the Palais Tsarskoye Selo Red Locket with Pig Surprise.

Fabergé’s Lady Levity with Pig surprise is a new design for the popular Lady Levity timepiece which is a part of the Faberge Dalliance collection. Inspired by a silver gilt, enamel and rock crystal desk clock created by Peter Carl Fabergé, the Lady Levity with Pig is powered by a mechanical movement which allows there to be a space, where other watches place mechanics, freeing the timepiece to prominently feature unique designs in the centre.

For Chinese New Year, the pig motif takes centre stage, crafted in platinum on a domed bombé sapphire crystal set on a white mother-of-pearl dial. Incredibly, the pig motif is only visible to the wearer under certain light conditions and at particular angles.

Faberge egg pendant with PigThe Palais Tsarskoye Selo Red Locket with Pig Surprise features red guilloché enamel and 17 round white diamonds set in 18 karat yellow and rose gold. The locket opens with a gentle touch to reveal the traditional Fabergé surprise – a delicate pink enamel pig with dazzling diamond eyes.

These two pieces commemorate Fabergé’s first individual creations for the Chinese New Year when, in 1911, master craftsman Francois Birbaum was commissioned by the royal court of Siam to make a series of objets and trinkets for the Year of the Pig. In 2016, Fabergé revived this tradition for Year of the Monkey and, in 2018, for the Year of the Dog – both of which still receive orders!

Both the limited edition pieces are now available to purchase and pre-order from faberge.com and across selected Faberge retailers.
