Fabergé continues to turn heads with its recent forays into the movie world. Remember the 007 collection inspired by James Bond? Following this high-profile spy venture, Fabergé now encounters the haunting realm of Beetlejuice for its latest collection.
Taking cues from Tim Burton’s award-winning film Beetlejuice, this new collection is a nod to its long-anticipated sequel Beetlejuice Beetlejuice. For the Fabergé x Beetlejuice fine jewelry collection, the luxury jeweler has teamed up with Warner Bros. Discovery Global Consumer Products.
Tim Burton, whose distinctive style has given rise to the term ‘Burtonesque’, joined hands with Oscar-winning costume designer Colleen Atwood, who worked for Alice in Wonderland, and Fabergé’s Head of Design, Liisa Tallgren. Created under the guidance of Fabergé Creative Director Josina von dem Bussche-Kessell, this collection is already available at stores.
Describing her experience of working on the collection, Ms. Atwood says, “I have immensely enjoyed the process of putting pencil to paper and watching our ideas evolve. There are no real barriers to bringing creativity to beautiful gems, each one with its own nuanced colour, and there are almost limitless possibilities with design. A quirky sense of fun is reflected in this collection and the hypnotic spirals and characterful motifs epitomise the spirit of Beetlejuice Beetlejuice.”
The line-up offers a striking array of 18k white gold jewelry, including earrings, pendants, lapel pins, collar bars, and rings. Drawing inspiration from Mr. Burton’s signature spiral motif and the eerie Beetlejuice characters Headworm and Sandworm, each piece is adorned with responsibly mined Gemfields gemstones.
The jewelry brand’s legendary egg motif is in the spotlight too with the Fabergé x Beetlejuice Beetlejuice collection. The White Gold Spiral Egg Drop Earrings and Pendants feature either a striking Mozambican ruby or a lush Zambian emerald, complemented by matching green or red UV enamel, and encircled by dazzling white diamonds.
Ms. Tallgren delves deeper into the collection and explains, “I was inspired by the original Beetlejuice film (1988), in which a character called Betelgeuse, the Afterlife’s leading Bio-exorcist, appears as an eerie creature with a carousel head and spiral arms that unwind to form arms with mallets for hands. Throughout the films, Betelgeuse is dressed in a black and white suit, so we have dressed our collection in the same style to epitomise this.”
Meanwhile, the Spiral Collar Bars and Lapel Pins in the collection showcase the same vibrant gemstones set within a spiral design, adorned with black UV enamel and diamonds. These monochrome striped elements echo the distinctive visuals of the Beetlejuice films, mimicking the iconic Sandworm stripes. The jewels also feature the brand’s signature enamel work.
The White Gold Headworm Collar Bars are available in both straight and twisted designs. These pieces prominently feature miniature Headworm heads, adorned with either round or pear-shaped Mozambican rubies or Zambian emeralds.
Complementing this, the White Gold Sandworm Spiral Wrap Rings showcase pear-shaped gemstones, either Zambian emeralds or Mozambican rubies framed by white diamonds and two-tone red or green UV enamel. The pear-shaped stones echo the Sandworm’s distinctive head shape.
The movie Beetlejuice Beetlejuice will be releasing on September 6, 2024.
