Good Earth hosts Forever Sari – a multi-designer Sari preview in Mumbai

Good earth Sari Preview

February 17, 2017: As a tribute to the fashionable, Indian traditional, unstitched garment called Sari, Good Earth is hosting ‘Forever Sari’, a celebration of the Sari and its eternal allure featuring eight Indian designers whose work honors its past, present and future. The three day multi-designer weekend preview will feature the signature and most recent collections of Akaaro, Anavila, Anjul Bhandari, Ashdeen, Eka, Péro and Raw Mango, along with Good Earth Sustain. In the process at Raghuvanshi Mills in Lower Parel, Mumbai from 17-19 February 2017, the preview launched with a panel discussion with the designers.

Good Earth Sari preview 2017While Akaaro brings a contemporary tone to handcrafted saris, Anavila’s linen saris are perfect for everyday – minimalistic and functional. Anjul Bhandari’s hand-embroidered Chikankari creations are born from the workmanship of craftsmen from Lucknow. On the other hand, Ashdeen Lilaowala’s hand-embroidered saris interpret Parsi Gara embroidery in soft hues.

Eka’s saris offer traditional Indian techniques like handblock printing, jamdani work and natural dyeing while Pero launches playful tassels, embroidery and woven stripes in a collection of chanderi saris.

Sanjay Garg of Raw Mango brings handwoven saris to the table that reflects simplicity in the contemporary. Good Earth Sustain too celebrates the ancient technique of jamdani weaving in a collection of naturally dyed saris, handcrafted with traces of zari embroidery on gossamer-like fabrics.

Good Earth endeavours to support sustainability by bridging the gap between craft, design and fashion.
