The Italian luxury brand’s first independent Salon has found its place at the Melrose Place in West Hollywood. Designed by award-winning set and production designer Gideon Ponte, a long-term Gucci collaborator, the store takes inspiration from Hollywood and the first Los Angeles Gucci boutique that had opened in 1968 on Rodeo Drive.
The intimate and personal space, offering the brand’s most exceptional pieces, boasts of an entirely plant covered facade and a decor that evokes the magnificence of a movie set. Each fitting room recalls the scenography of movie sets, and the dressing rooms of iconic stars, which were their private realms.
The official statement by the brand says, “The concept of Gucci Salon – newly-conceived yet embedded in the roots of Gucci – brings us back to the very essence of the house, and to a true and eternal identity of luxury.”
The store features accessories and shoes in precious leathers, high-end custom collections including evening wear, tailoring, and gowns, with Gucci decor, luxurious fabrics and luminous finishes as the backdrop.
Each Gucci Salon will offer a curated edit and expansion of Gucci pieces across different luxury universes. The exclusive, limited-edition pieces offered within Gucci Salon are an embodiment of high craftsmanship, which hold the calibre of being passed down between generations.
Available at this Gucci Salon, the Valigeria range offers rigid trunks that echo original archival styles proposed by Guccio Gucci to the 20th century’s jet-set, while High Jewelry and Watchmaking draw on centuries of expertise to create a truly unique expression of luxury in precious metals and fine gemstones.
Theatrical enhancements such as the crystal chandeliers, mirrored columns and window niches, draped curtains like proscenium, and jewel-coloured detailing in fabrics and lacquer finishes, evoke the atmosphere of multiple eras and incarnations of Hollywood, and echoes the high glamor value of the precious objects to be merchandised at the new Salon.
Special areas and floors within global Gucci boutiques, will be designated as Gucci Salons, in signature destinations, including New York, Paris, London, Milan, Dubai, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Taipei and Tokyo, and will be unveiled throughout 2023.
