October 11, 2017: Luxe brand Gucci has launched a collaboration with the talented British artist known as Unskilled Worker.
Gucci’s relationship with Unskilled Worker, the nom de plume of Helen Downie, dates back to 2015, when Creative Director Alessandro Michele discovered her work on Instagram and invited her to participate in an art exhibition in Shanghai.
The new collaboration is a 40-piece exclusive capsule collection of ready-to-wear, shoes, bags, silks and accessories featuring artwork by Unskilled Worker. The images used are a combination of portraits and floral designs by the artist, in all in her signature naïve and expressive style.
The collection, available for sale online only, includes printed GG Marmont shoulder bags, Princetown mules and Ace sneakers, tote bags with bamboo handles, printed dresses, blouses and skirts in silk, patched knitted tops, cardigans, denim skirts and jeans, t-shirts, sweatshirts, a bomber jacket as well as foulards and shawls. The items will be delivered in bespoke packaging that will also be decorated with Unskilled Worker’s designs.
This will be the first time an exclusive online collection will launch simultaneously in all gucci.com markets (Europe, United States, Canada, UAE, China, Japan, Australia and South Korea).
