Gucci names figure skater Yuzuru Hanyu as its newest brand ambassador

“I am truly delighted to become part of the Gucci community,” says Mr. Hanyu about the partnership.

Making a striking move, Gucci has appointed Japanese figure skater Yuzuru Hanyu to represent the esteemed fashion house. This announcement follows closely on the heels of the recent appointment of Thai actor, model, and singer Gulf, also known as Kanawut Traipipattanapong.

Gucci brand ambassador

Renowned for his grace and elegance on the ice, the Olympian is set to bring a new dimension to Gucci’s ambassadorship. In 2023, he ventured into professional fashion portraiture at the opening exhibition of the Gucci Ginza Gallery, where he unveiled his dynamic beauty and inner strength.

The 29-year-old achieved a historic feat by winning the gold medal in men’s singles figure skating at two consecutive Olympics, Sochi in 2014 and PyeongChang in 2018. He also became the youngest recipient of the People’s Honor Award.

“I am truly delighted to become part of the Gucci community, which nurtures bonds with creators around the world beyond the realm of fashion. Throughout its long history, Gucci has devoted passion to craftsmanship and demonstrated exceptional creativity and is fascinating many fans in Japan as well. I am eager to continue discovering the allure of Gucci in the times ahead,” said the Japanese Olympian.

Japanese actor Jun Shison, Italian tennis player Jannik Sinner, actor and singer Xiao Zhan, and British football star Jack Grealish are also some of the big names from Gucci’s lineup of male ambassadors. Mr. Hanyu’s appointment as a brand ambassador signals an exciting new chapter in Gucci’s ongoing journey of innovation and inclusivity.
