May 2, 2016: Gucci announces the publication of photographer Ari Marcopoulos’ limited-edition impressionist book, Epiphany.
The title features pictures from a Milan shoot of the brand’s pre-fall 2016 women’s and men’s collections. Snapped by Mr Marcopoulos, the images exude the direct yet loose feeling that characterize his works. The photographs are divided into three sections – the first and last carry black-and-white photos on lightweight paper, while the middle portion springs up in vivid colors on heavier-stock pages.
As intricate as the photographs it holds, Epiphany’s cover boasts a transparent pocket, in which postcard-sized images will be randomly slid. The book will come enveloped in bubble wrap with a holographic Gucci snake sticker on the front and the label’s logo on black silk screen on the back.
Only 1,000 Epiphany books will be released on May 5th at Dover Street Market in New York, where Mr Marcopoulos will be in attendance to sign copies. After a month-long sale in the US, the book will be also available at the Pitti Uomo exhibition in Florence in June. A retailer in London is soon to be announced.
