As French maison Guerlain’s unique Bee bottle approaches its illustrious age of 170, the house collaborated with photographer and jeweler Nadine Kanso to redesign the bottle with her signature calligraphy. In 2006, the designer created her own jewelry line, Bil Arabi, where she channels all her love and passion for Arab culture in her exquisite jewels adorned with gold and glitters.
Spinning the two different worlds of jewel and fragrance in an unprecedented merge, Ms. Kanso reimagined the iconic bee bottle with her calligraphy inspired by Arabic alphabets. The love and passion that has sparked her inspiration for years makes its way to the bottle, turning it into a true treasure. On that cue, Ms. Kanso says, “I chose the word ‘love’ to show the world that with love we can accomplish beautiful things.”
In the most glittering homage, the Arabic word “Al hob”, meaning love, is inscribed in calligraphy nine times, lavishly embellished with thousands of priceless, glistening Swarovski crystals. The entire design of the bottle was entrusted to a historic atelier of Guerlain, “Living Heritage Company”, that worked in close collaboration with Swarovski.
Produced in a limited number of 30 bottles, it took over 12 hours to hand helm 1,710 colored crystals, one by one, in each of the nine motifs on the bottle. Named “Rêve d’Amour”, this limited edition bottle reflects both the Middle East’s passions – fragrances and calligraphy.
The inscriptions embrace the bottle that houses a special eau de parfum created by Guerlain perfumers exclusively for this edition. The exquisite eau de parfum marries sophistication with the splendor of a bouquet of white flowers and the sultry sensuality of cedarwood, abelmosk and benzoin.
