Hilton, expressing its intentions to establish its presence in Nepal, has launched a new hotel in Kathmandu. Tucked away in the heart of the Kathmandu Valley, the hotel is situated in Naxal, just four kilometers from Tribhuvan International Airport, and minutes away from major tourist spots like Thamel and Durbar Marg.
With its development helmed by the Shankar Group, which also possesses the ownership of this property, this stunning hotel consciously presents a fusion of Nepal’s rich heritage and contemporary design.
Slated to be the tallest hotel in Kathmandu and the only destination in Nepal with a glass façade symbolizing prayer flags, it accommodates rooms traversing from refined spaces to palatial presidential suites, all with picturesque views of the Langtang Valley’s mountain ranges.
The property incorporates subtle elements of Nepali heritage, with intricate patterns of traditional Nepali Dhaka fabric adorning staff uniforms, the lobby, and other. The cantilevered entrance, temperature-controlled rooftop pool, all-day dining outlet, floor-to-ceiling glass walls, and more exhibit Nepal’s natural landscapes and cityscape in all their glory.
Alexandra Jaritz, Senior Vice President, Brand Management, Asia Pacific, Hilton, recounts, “For more than a century, Hilton has been a pioneer of international hospitality, so it is with great pride that our first hotel in Nepal is being established as a landmark for the city’s discerning guests. Hilton Kathmandu is a stunning addition to our portfolio, and every aspect of the hotel has been meticulously crafted to immerse guests in this unique destination and allow them to experience Nepal’s rich history and culture against the dramatic backdrop of the Langtang mountains.”
Offering a range of activities, from customized concierge services, partnering with Sherpas to craft once-in-a-lifetime unique adventures, to the hotel’s acclaimed wellness programs at the spa, discerning guests are inspired to indulge in what Nepal has to offer in a manner that is tailored for them.
Five unique dining venues grace the property, each posing an extraordinary culinary journey showcasing an amalgamation of international and local palates. From relaxed bistro-style dining at the Lava Box and Hava, to live cooking stations at Asa; the rooftop bar Orion offering panoramic vistas that transform from day to night, to the rooftop pool bar Lyra with cabanas and sun loungers, the hotel has much to satisfy your appetite with.
Owing to Hilton’s commitment to sustainability, Hilton Kathmandu engages in eco-friendly processes through the dissemination of amenities like two EV charging stations and a green fleet of electric vehicles. The property’s seismic-resilient building infrastructure is incorporated with shock absorbers, warranting a secure stay for all guests.
Shahil Agarwal, Managing Director, Shanker Group, comments, “It is an honor to join forces with a global powerhouse brand such as Hilton to introduce this stunning addition to the skyline of Kathmandu. We’ve meticulously created a hotel that encapsulates the spirit of this vibrant destination and celebrates Nepalese heritage while embodying the brand’s signature hospitality. We look forward to becoming a cornerstone of Kathmandu’s thriving tourism industry and welcoming guests from around the world. Our group has deep Nepali lineage, and we are excited to marry that with Hilton’s global brand strength to welcome guests from across the globe to this hallmark hotel.”
Hilton Kathmandu is another grand addition to the nearly 90 Hilton Hotels & Resorts across the Asia Pacific. Following the newest openings like Hilton Singapore Orchard and Hilton Saigon, with planned openings in Shanghai, Hyderabad, and Kyoto in the future, this makes a major milestone in Hilton’s vigorous growth and expansion in the Indian subcontinent.
