House of Rugs & Gur Organics unveil a sustainable collection of rugs – Kairos

The collaboration aims to celebrate the essence of simple and minimal design using eco-friendly materials as well as promote women’s education

April 13, 2021: House of Rugs, a new e-commerce platform founded by Aishwarya Gupta, has collaborated with Gur Organics by Pernia Qureshi, to create a collection of rugs that are influenced by nature, and are tranquil and exquisite.

To promote sustainability and commit more towards zero-waste emissions, the young entrepreneurs have created hand-made and long-lasting products. Called Kairos, the collection of rugs celebrates the essence of simple and minimal design using eco-friendly materials as well as promotes women’s education – a prime concern harboured by Ms. Gupta. Parts of the sale proceeds will go towards a women’s college Ms. Gupta’s family is building in Badhohi.

Designed by Ms. Qureshi, she says, “I was inspired by Japanese minimalism. To form it as art, I chose Japandi – the combination of Scandinavian functionality and Japanese rustic minimalism to create a feeling of art, nature and simplicity. The fusion creates the perfect blend of function and form, focusing on clean lines, bright spaces and light colours. Calming, tranquil, and peaceful palettes are typically chosen, and when brighter colours are incorporated, they are done so meaningfully and subtly.”

The collection sees touches of Art Deco, which when combined by Japandi, gives a sophisticated edge of bold and pastel shades full of textures offering a cozy and relaxed vibe. Where Japandi tends to be neutral, the rich colour palette from Art Deco gives the room more warmth.

Two of the dhurries from the collection are made of PET yarn derived from recycled plastic, while three rugs are in a combination of wool and jasmine silk, and one in wool and viscose.

The collection is available on House of Rugs website.
