January 17, 2019: Imperial Lamian, the immensely popular luxury restaurant in Chicago, is set to celebrate Chinese New Year in all its glory. River North’s top Chinese destination is rolling out a special menu encompassing the traditions of the holiday. Available from February 2 through February 8, guests can partake in the luck of the New Year with these interesting dishes.
Featured menu items include: Crispy Pork Puffs (pork wrapped and fried in a crispy cinnamon puff), Shrimp and Edamame Dumplings (rice flour wrappers filled with shrimp, edamame and preserved olive leaves), Shanghai Rice Cakes (fresh snow vegetables patted into a rice cake tossed in a garlic and oyster sauce) and Emperor's Lobster (a whole one-pound Maine lobster braised in a truffle butter with peppers, Shimeji mushrooms and fried garlic).
The most traditional (and colorful!) dish, Yee Sang or the Prosperity Toss Salad, is a symbol of good luck for the New Year as all guests are encouraged to help toss the salad together to truly attract good fortune. The dish combines a vegetable mix with fresh salmon and is tossed in a plum and mint sauce.
