Amsterdam's Hotel TwentySeven marks 1st anniversary with 5 awards
January 18, 2019 - The new luxury boutique hotel, Hotel TwentySeven, on Dam Square, boasts a significant location in Amsterdam, shared with the home of the Royal Palace. The hotel has been consciously constructed into the iconic building of De Koninklijke Industrieele Groote Club (The Royal Industrial Club) where for decades, industry tycoons and entrepreneurs came together.
Comprehending the heritage of its location and building (which dates back to 1913), the creators of the hotel have employed the richest, finest and most surreal design, directed and curated by award-winning Dutch designers Wim van de Oudeweetering and Cris van Amsterdam. Picture this: a grandiose hand-blown glass light sculpture chandelier plummets from the ceilings, through the atrium, down to the centre of the hotel, cascading along four floors. Their design sensibility has, therefore, won them World Wide Hospitality Awards’ “Best WoW Effect” of Luxury Hotels, along with the “Worlds Most Inspiring Design Hotel” by the World Boutique Hotel Awards.
Hotel TwentySeven offers extensive bespoke services, including private butlers, personal assistants, personal shoppers, personal trainers, and “insider” city-tour guides. Childcare is available where they can organise visits to museums or teach their young guests a new language.
The hotel includes 16 suites, ranging from 45 sq. metres up to the largest suite of 219 sq. metres. A handmade 10cm thick door ensures each suite is fully soundproofed: which is a first for Europe. The suites all have colour-coordinated, handmade silk carpets, which cover the handmade wooden floors.
Bougainville at TwentySeven, led by rising star Executive Chef Tim Golsteijn, offers the finest gastronomic and visual experiences in town, and has now become a prestigious Michelin Star restaurant! Lendl Mijnhijmer, named the Best Sommelier of The Netherlands 2018, is the Wine Director. Bougainville is open to both the public and to hotel guests.
The signature bar, made of specialty cut onyx, is headed by Eric van Beek, awarded Best Bartender by Bacardi Legacy Global Challenge, and features a bespoke menu of delectable probiotic cocktails, and top-shelf spirits.
Owner and general manager Eric Toren sees Hotel TwentySeven as a dream come true. No wonder then that the visionnaire has received the award for the Best General Manager of Western Europe, from the World Luxury Hotel Awards.
And to truly compliment the magnum opus of Mr. Toren, the hotel has won the ‘Best Small Luxury Hotel of Europe’ by International Property Awards.
