Ceramics, in the Andino collection, are handmade by a group of local artisans from Chulucanas - a town on the northern coast of Peru near the Ecuadorian border. The place has become the center of revival for traditional pottery. The pre-Columbian inhabitants of the region developed a unique process for creating ceramics nearly 1,500 years ago. Other towns in Peru that created the collection include Ayacucho, Lima and Huancavelica.

Traditional pottery is made using terracotta, and that’s exactly what has been used for the Andino collection as well. Standouts include beautiful, earth-hued curvaceous Terracotta Chulucanas Rope Vases with rope handles. Stunning hand carved and hand finished glass, wood, gold-leaf, gilded mirrors are made by Marco Luzalde, a self-taught artist who is helping preserve a long tradition of wall art that dates back to Peru’s Spanish and Moorish colonial heritage.

The textiles introduce bold colors to offer a vibrant blast of freshness and pure joy to homes.

From earthen ceramics, intricate wood carvings and handcrafted textiles, the collection celebrates traditional craft by preserving and creating economic impact. All the works choreographed by Mr. Olivero and handmade by the 15 artisans in this special collection are Fair Trade and Nest Certified. It is truly an exquisite and enticing collection that traverses the beauty and tradition of Peru.
