Payal Singhal launches her debut menswear collection

April 22, 2019: “There was an overwhelming demand for menswear from our brides,” said Indian fashion designer Payal Singhal on the launch of her debut collection for men.

Using history and culture as her starting points, Payal Singhal approaches tradition with a renewed outlook to give every collection present-day relevance. After having her finger on the pulse of what the millennial girl looking for, Ms. Singhal decided to extend her signature aesthetic to menswear as well.

The brand's menswear collection furthers their ethos of contemporising Indian wear. The maiden collection is centred around floral sherwanis, bandi sets, and silk kurta sets in signature house prints and pastel colours with light embellishments. Complementing the clothing is a selection of men's accessories like ties, pocket squares and safas. The entire range is a playful and tongue-in-cheek take on conventional menswear.

"It retains the essence of what the brand stands for, and is designed for the confident, metrosexual Indian man, or the one who lets his wife do all the shopping!" says the designer.

Payal Singhal aims to break the mould where men are usually deemed appropriate to wear solid patterns and neutral shades. Her signature has always been vibrant patterns, and she remains true to it in her first menswear collection as well. Rendering a dramatic yet sophisticated collection, we are sure the pieces will resonate with the youthful men of India.
