Luxury lifestyle brand Stella McCartney redefined sustainable fashion with its latest introduction in the fashion world – BioSequins. The brand has historically been very vocal about its stand on sustainability and has advocated the use of environment friendly materials such as vegan leather, recycled nylon, recycled polyester and much more. For its latest garment, the designer teamed up with Radiant Matter, a material innovation company, to create a jumpsuit crafted from BioSequins.

The fashion industry is a massive contributor to the world’s plastic problem, and to reduce its environmental impact, Radiant Matter created BioSequins, a biodegradable and non-toxic material innovated from plant-based cellulose, using no metals, minerals or synthetic pigments or colorants.

Elissa Brunato, founder of Radiant Matter, says, “We have loved Stella McCartney’s uncompromising approach to sustainability and aesthetics, which are reflected in any decision, down to the fabric and thread choice, resulting in a stunning yet fully plant-derived garment.”

The jumpsuit was worn by model and eco-activist Cara Delevingne on the cover story of the April 2023 edition of Vogue magazine. The namesake designer, Stella McCartney, noted, “Who says sustainability can’t be sexy? Cara is breathtaking in this rare, precious garment…”
