TUMI moves to sustainable recycled fabrics

TUMI launches a special capsule with its iconic Merge and Alpha Bravo collections using recycled fabrics only

January 30, 2020: Luggage lifestyle brand TUMI’s responsible fashion initiative for Spring/Summer 2020 includes a special capsule featuring TUMI’s iconic Merge and Alpha Bravo collections using recycled fabrics only. A substantial expansion on the prior eco-friendly notions by TUMI in years 2018-19, the brand has taken it up a notch this season, offering a much larger array of luggage choices made from post-industrial recycled nylon and post-consumer rPET bottles – while ensuring rigorous quality checks to promise highest level of durability – enhancing a part of the TUMI difference that defines the brand.

TUMI is continuing its sustainability journey with an exciting and innovative introduction – the brand’s first-ever travel collection made with recycled materials, TUMI Merge. The perfect blend of style and utility for the next generation of travellers, TUMI Merge is a lightweight and highly functional travel collection inspired by the evolution of business travel and how boundaries between work and life have become less defined. TUMI Merge features body fabric made from post-industrial recycled nylon and interior fabric lining made from post-consumer recycled PET (rPET) material. Through the use of rPET fabric in these products, TUMI will divert 214,000 plastic bottles from the landfill on the initial production order. The recycled materials have been tested to prove that they are extremely tough in order to deliver travel cases that can stand the test of time.

Designed for performance, Alpha Bravo has features inspired by the military, with backpacks, briefs, and duffels made to last in TUMI’s signature FXT Ballistic Nylon. The new Lark Backpack has dual magnetic clips to keep the bag securely closed and a wide entry for easy packing, while the Lance Backpack is a smaller roll-top style with tuck lock closure.

The season’s core colour is Black, with Navy as a transitional colour and Forest, Grey/Bright Lime and Grey/Bright Red as seasonal colour pops. Both seasonal colours are made with fabric engineered from post-consumer recycled bottles and post-industrial recycled nylon. The collection is available across stores in India from February 2020.
