The Balvenie launches second batch of The Balvenie Tun 1401

April 2011: Pleasure knows no bounds, as The Balvenie Malt Master, Mr David Stewart, has taken pains to prove! He has introduced his latest Scotch whisky expression - The Balvenie Tun 1401 Batch 2 - a sought after single malt previously only available at The Balvenie Distillery.

To craft The Balvenie Tun 1401, Mr Stewart transferred specially selected casks from across the ages to a specially selected marrying tun – number 1401. Three months later emerged an exceptionally complex single malt Scotch whisky.

His first batch of Tun 1401 was released in 2010 for sale only at The Balvenie’s Speyside Distillery, but his small experimental release became so popular that he has created a second batch of the heavenly brew, available this time without the need for a trip to the Scottish Highlands.

Silky smooth on the palate, The Balvenie Tun 1401 has a delicious complexity characterised by a floral sweetness, and citrus orange peel notes underpinned by tones of vanilla, honey and mature oak. The finish is mellow, rich and warming.

Hand-bottled at The Balvenie Distillery in Speyside, The Balvenie Tun 1401 Batch 2 is available worldwide from May 2011.
