October 4, 2016: Continuing with its tradition of presenting a new collection at the brink of the festive season, luxury brand Good Earth travels eastwards to China, along the Silk Route and introduces Shambala, a collection inspired by the imagery of the lands beyond the Himalayas and the stories that connect India and China.
Anita Lal of Good Earth says, “Europeans created their own fantasy based on the accounts of travelers who reached China following the Silk Route. Chinoiserie was their stylized fantastical imagery of the Orient. It brought color and flair of the exotic to liven up the soft pastels of their interiors. Indian style is already based on colorful surface decoration, so through Shambala we added oriental patterns to include pagodas and peonies and elephants with umbrellas and even dragons to capture the charm of the land across the Himalayas.”
Shambala has a distinct color palette of imperial jades, serene blue and whites and auspicious cinnabar, enhanced with rich vintage gold. The design stories translate the myths, motifs and metaphors of the far east into fine china and lush fabrics of silk brocade, silk velvet, fine muslin and linen, enhanced through the textile crafts of hand-weaving, block printing, gold leaf stencils and silk embroidery.
The collection will be available in all Good Earth stores and on the web-boutique from October 2016.
